DESCRIPTION:Please join us Sunday September 27 at noon for a Liturgical Workshop on being a Lector. This session will talk a little bit about the “why” and “how” being a lector is different from simply reading\, as well as do some hands-on practice. \nIf you are already a Lector\, please plan to attend. We will be giving updates and refreshers so we are all on the same page as to our common worship. We’d also love to learn from your wisdom and experience! \nIf you’d like to learn more about being a Lector\, please plan to attend. You don’t have to commit to anything at this time\, just come to learn more.

SUMMARY:Intergenerational Hike
DESCRIPTION:Sunday September 27th we’ll take some time to enjoy some time under our native oak trees at Stevens Creek County Park during the season of creation. We’ll gather at 4pm at the Bay Tree Parking Lot at Steven’s Creek County Park\, then head up on the Tony Look Trail. We’ll plan on dividing into two groups. Some of us will really get a chance to hike and others will stroll under the trees. We’ll gather back at the picnic tables near the parking lot around 5:30 for sack lunch dinner.  \nPlease note that there is a 6 dollar parking fee at Stevens Creek County Park. You need to stop by a machine in the first parking lot to pay before proceeding to the Bay Tree parking lot. \nPlease let us know to expect you by signing up here.

DESCRIPTION:Making Room: Embracing a More Spacious Christianity \nChristianity at its best invites us to open our hearts and our lives wide. To embrace rather than fear the paradoxes that come with being human in God’s beautiful but fractured world. During this retreat\, we will consider some of these paradoxes\, and reflect on how we might live into them with more courage\, trust\, and resilience. How do we make room for lament and hope at the same time? What does it mean to dwell with uncertainty\, while still holding fast to God’s Good News? What helpful role might doubt play in a committed life of faith? Through teaching\, journaling\, meditation\, and guided conversation\, we will explore these questions together.    \nBio \nThe Rev. Debie Thomas is the author of Into the Mess and Other Jesus Stories\, and A Faith of Many Rooms: Inhabiting a More Spacious Christianity.  She was ordained to the priesthood in June\, and serves as curate at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Palo Alto. Debie and her husband have two grown children and live in Scotts Valley. \nRegistration \nOur Women’s Retreat will be Saturday October 17\, 8:30am-3:30pm\, and is open to all who self-identify as female or non-binary. Please register on Realm. Guests are welcome! The cost is $40 and covers a light breakfast and lunch. If this is a hardship for you\, please contact Rev. Nikky and the parish will cover your fee.
