Holy Week for Young People

Entering Holy Week can be challenging with young children. Particularly with the late services, it’s often hard for our kids to really hear and wrestle with the full story of our faith this week. Join us for the Holy Week for Young People service — it’s held on Good Friday, but tells the whole sweep of events, from Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, to the Last Supper, the crucifixion, and the tomb. We use Godly Play, so the story is on the kids’ level. We then have ways for them to engage, through washing feet, placing stones on a cross, washing the altar, and coloring. It helps them begin to encounter this difficult story about punishment and death in a way that gives them space to process, to feel loved and safe, and to know that there’s a whole community also holding these hard things together.
