St. Timothy’s Stephen Ministers have been providing confidential Christian care to parishioners from St. Timothy’s and other local churches for over 25 years! Susan Slakey and Judy Bailey were the first members of our parish to take Stephen Leader training in 1999. Since then, 33 parishioners have trained as Stephen Ministers and walked alongside hundreds of care receivers who are experiencing the joys and challenges of modern life. We currently have 5 active Stephen Ministers including Bill Shreve and Anne Wilde as Stephen Leaders.
Stephen Ministers are trained lay church members who provide emotional and spiritual care to individuals experiencing life challenges such as grief from the loss of a loved one, divorce, unemployment, medical crises, and difficulties in starting or adding to a family. Stephen Ministers meet regularly for supervision and continuing education with each other and their Stephen Leaders. We also enjoy the support of a caring and thoughtful Rector.
Stephen Ministry relationships can be brief or extended depending on many factors. If you would appreciate the open ears and heart of a trained Stephen Minister, please reach out to Rev. Nikky or Anne Wilde. These conversations are always confidential.
Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2, NRSV).
