Tell the FCC by March 6th to protect our night skies, and NOT approve the “sunlight on demand” application until testing, research, and environmental review can be conducted. Reflect Orbital has proposed a plan to create “sunlight on demand” by reflecting light from 50,000 mirrored satellites it plans to launch by 2035. A change this drastic could have untold consequences, disrupting human sleep cycles, natural circadian rhythms for wildlife, and fundamentally altering our night skies. In addition, the launch of thousands of satellites into space creates emissions that add to atmospheric pollution (ozone layer damage), and that many additional low orbiting satellites increase collision risks in an already crowded orbital field.
