Community

Youth

St. Tim's is a place where young people can be themselves: sharing their hopes, doubts and joys.

Youth are a part of the body of Christ at St. Timothy’s—our youth staff Camp St. Tim’s and sit together at parish wide events to enjoy each other’s company.

How Are Youth Called to Grow at St. Tim's?

Double Digits

Middle and high schoolers gather weekly between services to share how they are doing, play a game, and reflect on scripture together. Young people and a team of dedicated adults meet from about 9:50 to 10:45 most Sunday mornings.

Teen Lunch

About once a month, High School age youth have lunch together. They talk about their lives and big questions. They develop relationships with adults who know God’s deep love for them. Our hope is they will see themselves and created in the image of God and look for ways to participate in building God’s realm on earth.

Youth Activities

Youth are welcome at parish-wide events. Youth also gather to play, grow, and practice their faith at youth events about once a month. These are opportunities for youth to practice their faith in age appropriate and affirming ways.

Participating in Youth Activities

Keep an eye on weekly announcements to be aware of upcoming youth events. Fill out a hard copy of a youth registration form in room 1 or reach out to Holly for a digital copy. There is no need to RSVP for Double Digits but please follow directions in the parish wide email to help us prepare to welcome you to other events. Let us know if your young person is ready to take on a leadership role such as reader or acolyte in worship.

Keeping Youth Safe

Adults who volunteer with minors complete training on protecting young people and undergo a background check. Youth should expect at least two adults to be at every youth activity. Parents register youth for youth programs and young people are signed in out out.

Ways You Can Help with Youth

Everyone in the parish welcomes and includes young people.  Ask young people questions at coffee hour. Work along side them in the tech booth, see if they’ll teach you a game at Wednesday night dinner. We all have a roll to play.
Jesus often gathered around the table with his friends. We have found that sharing a meal together is a great way to build community.  About once a month, we are looking for folks to help with a meal for our youth.

Double Digit volunteers lead highs and lows, a quick game and discussion in pairs on a rotating basis, so they are with youth about once a month.

Mentors also support those other youth activities by leading games, discussions and activities and just walking beside young people.

Any adult working directly with children should be willing to submit to a background check and complete Safe Guarding God’s Children (per Diocesan guidelines).
