Whether you’re visiting for the first time, returning to church after a break, or just exploring what faith might look like now, you’re welcome here—exactly as you are.

St. Tim’s is an inclusive and affirming Episcopal church in Mountain View, California. We value participation over perfection, curiosity over certainty, and joy that shows up in real, everyday ways.

Below you’ll find what to expect when you visit—and a few answers to common questions. 

Sunday Morning at a Glance

Sunday mornings at St. Tim’s are unhurried and welcoming, with space to worship, connect, and ease into the day.

9:00 a.m. — Early Service (especially child-friendly)

A more informal and interactive service, often held outdoors in the courtyard during warmer months. Children and adults worship together, with room for movement, curiosity, and conversation. A leader from the congregation engages kids in a youth homily, and the priest invites everyone to gather around the altar for Communion.

9:45 a.m. — Formation & Fellowship for All Ages

  • Nursery care (ages 1–4)
  • Godly Play for elementary-aged children
  • Double Digits group for middle and high-schoolers
  • Coffee, bagels, and conversation
  • Sermon Circle (an optional time to hear and discuss the sermon)

10:30 a.m. — Nave Service (Livestreamed)

A full liturgy with music, preaching, and communion, held indoors and streamed online.

You’re welcome to come for any part of the morning—or all of it.

Worship at St. Tim’s is rooted in the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer and shaped by the people who gather. You’ll find ancient prayers alongside contemporary language, music that blends traditional and modern styles, and a tone that is reverent without being formal. We’re a liturgical church, which means our worship follows a similar pattern every Sunday and moves through seasons of the year. These rituals help us pray not only with words and our minds, but form us on a deep level as we encounter the Holy with our whole selves. Each week, we hear a sermon and celebrate Eucharist (Communion) together. You don’t need to know what to do. Everything you need to follow along is projected on a screen overhead, and you’re welcome to participate as much—or as little—as feels comfortable.

Children belong in worship here. We design our services to include all ages and make space for curiosity, questions, and sound.

  • Children and youth are active participants in worship and community life. Our 9am service is designed to be especially child-friendly and participatory, with a youth-focused homily and gathering around the altar together, but young people are always welcome at every liturgy.

  • Our nave space has a rug on the floor, and a shelf with coloring sheets, finger labyrinths, glitter jars, and other things to help children engage their hands and bodies while they listen.

  • During our formation time between services, we have classrooms for each age group:
    • Nursery care for the littlest ones
    • Godly Play, offering hands-on, story-based faith formation for elementary-aged children.
    • Double Digits, gathering middle and high-schoolers for connection and conversation.

  • If a child needs to move, speak up, or take a break, that’s okay.
Whatever you’re comfortable in. You’ll see everything from jeans and sneakers to dresses and button-downs. There’s no dress code.
Yes. All are welcome to receive communion at St. Tim’s. If you’d prefer not to receive, you may come forward for a blessing or remain seated—both are completely welcome.
Yes. St. Timothy’s is an inclusive and affirming Episcopal church. LGBTQ+ people are fully welcome at all levels of church life and leadership. Families of all kinds, people with questions, people with doubts, and people who aren’t sure what they believe, are all part of this community.
Our parking lot has plenty of room, both in front and around back. Our campus is accessible for people using wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids. In the church, we have seating in chairs (without arms), and can easily move them to accommodate. There are no steps into the Hall, and seating there is extremely flexible. Please let a greeter know what you need; we’re happy to help make your visit comfortable.

Absolutely. Many people first connect through a weekday dinner, a small group, a prayer gathering, or a service project. Some folks like to watch online or listen to our sermon podcast for awhile. Signing up for our newsletter is a good way to find out what’s happening here. You’re welcome to explore at your own pace.

There’s no pressure here. Some people visit once. Others return slowly. Some jump into community life right away. All of those paths are valid.
