Membership
All are welcome here.
Regardless of your membership status, everyone is invited to participate in any
aspect of our prayer, study, service, or events. All are invited to receive Communion from
Christ’s table. Becoming a member is an indicator of commitment, a way of setting the intention to be
active in the life of this parish. There are many ways to participate, and people find different ways to both contribute to the growth and well-being of this place, and to receive nourishment and sustenance from it.
Together as a community:
- We worship. Prayer, liturgy, and sacraments form the center of our life together. Sunday morning Eucharist is our primary act of public, communal worship, and it is the place where the entire congregation comes together and knows itself as the Body of Christ. This weekly gathering shapes the rhythm of our week.
- We grow. The life of faith is a journey of constantly learning, stretching, and changing. We offer Godly Play for elementary school kids; Double Digits for youth; and a sermon conversation circle, forums, book groups, and various series for adults, as we strive to continue to grow in our faith and in our knowledge of how to actively work for justice and peace for all.
- We bless. At St. Tim’s, you will find us recognizing God’s sacred presence in all kinds of things, people, and places. We bless birthdays, anniversaries, retirement, new jobs, bicycles, backpacks, animals, pledges, the garden, ministry teams, and anything else you bring forward.
- We eat. As sacramental Christians, our life of worship and prayer is grounded in a meal, and we celebrate this not only in Holy Eucharist, but by feasting together often. Each Sunday, we chat over coffee and bagels; we gather monthly to share a Wednesday Night Dinner (typically a potluck); and we have special celebrations at our Annual Meeting, Shrove Tuesday, Easter, Ascension, Pentecost, All Saints, St. Nicholas, and more!
- We give. We recognize that our time, money, and skills are gifts given us by God, and we in turn use them in service of God and others. We are involved in various ministry areas in which we give of ourselves for the good of the community. We are intentional about sustaining our common life. Many reach to pledge a percentage of their income, as a spiritual practice. We also partner with other organizations, such as Move Mountain View (to provide Safe Parking sites) and Santa Maria Urban Ministries (to gather donations such as pajamas, socks and underwear, or other needs they identify) to give beyond our own walls.
