In our Baptismal Covenant, we vow to proclaim by word and deed the loving, liberating, and life-giving good news of God in Christ, to “strive for justice and peace among all people,” and “to respect the dignity of every human being.” We believe our faith is relevant and actionable in today’s world.
The Peace and Justice Team seeks to live into these promises by congregational education and engagement, and community partnerships, with a special focus on the protection of locally targeted vulnerable neighbors, especially LGBTQ+ and immigrant populations.
We will be taking action to advocate for those who need it most, rooting our action in Christ’s love, joy, and prayer.
See below for our first two actions! Other actions may include volunteering to support the Day Worker Center, gathering in fellowship and calling our government representatives to advocate for just policies for our vulnerable neighbors, volunteering at St. Tim’s table at Mountain View’s Pride Celebration, and more!
The Peace and Justice Team is still forming and early in our evolution! For now, we will be meeting 1-2x/month (alternating virtual and in person) for prayerful discussion and planning actions.
Reach out to Chrissy Ulrey (christineulrey@gmail.com) if you’d like to be added to our email list to attend meetings and be part of the action discussion and planning. Or, if you’d like to just participate in some of our actions, look for announcements in our regular weekly Wednesday email.
