Call on Congress to Protect National Monuments

Grand Staircase National Monument

The federal government is trying to open up many public lands for development or sale. National Parks and monuments have always inspired me.  They set our country apart from other older countries where population growth and development have reduced the natural majesty of God’s creation.  People come from all over the world to see the wonders of our country. Now we need to protect our natural legacy. The following call to action is reproduced from Creation Justice Ministries.

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) and Representative Maloy (R-UT-02) have initiated a process to fast-track the dismantling of protections for the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. By introducing “resolutions of disapproval” on March 4, they seek to overturn the Monument Management Plan—a framework essential for the faithful stewardship of this divine landscape.

If these resolutions pass, we risk turning a sanctuary of biodiversity into a site of exploitation. This could open the door to out-of-control vehicle use and the clearcutting of ancient pinyon-juniper forests. As people of faith, we are called to be caretakers, not exploiters, of the Earth. To undo this plan is to invite chaos where there should be care, threatening the endangered species and sacred cultural sites that call this monument home.

Please contact your members of Congress today and urge them to honor Creation by voting NO on these joint resolutions.
