NOAA reported that July 2026 was the hottest month in recorded U.S. history for the contiguous 48 states. The Copernicus Climate Change Service reports that Western Europe experienced its warmest June–July period on record. Climate change is fueling an historic summer of extreme heat, drought, and wildfires around the world. Clearly the impact of our changing climate is affecting everyone. Some geologists theorize that even earthquakes are affected by climate change. The melting polar ice raises sea levels causing the weight of water and ice to shift from the poles to the equator. This movement changes the stresses on the tectonic plates causing them to shift so we experience earthquakes.
We all are contributing to climate change through our choices of appliances, cars, food, travel, and so on. We can make a difference when we work together.
