President Trump has been doing everything in his power to block the creation of new renewable energy projects in the United States, yet the headline in Paul Krugman’s column (June 19) is “Donald Trump, Champion of Renewable Energy.” Despite spending $2.5 billion to block renewable energy projects, Krugman says “Trump’s disastrous Iran war has delivered a huge boost for renewable energy around the world — except in the U.S.. Trump has so far done more to shift the global economy away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energy than any other single individual in history.” The shift to renewable energy was gaining momentum before the war, but the closing of the Strait of Hormuz gave the shift a big boost. Renewable energy including storage already costs less than fossil generation and the price keeps dropping as more installations and new technological advances roll out. Like so many things that happen these days, God brings hope and abundant blessings even out of tragedy.
