Invitation to Dream Forum

A rainbow over St. Timothy's

Dear Friends at St. Timothy’s,

We have been listening. Over the past several months, members of our community have shared their hopes, their longings, and their vision for what St. Timothy’s could become. Now it is time to dream together — out loud, in community, across a table.

We invite you to join us on Sunday, Nov. 1 after the liturgy for a 45-minute Dream Forum: a structured, joyful conversation about what would bring St. Timothy’s the most life in the years ahead. This is not a strategic planning meeting. There are no wrong answers and no budget to defend. This is an opportunity to speak freely about the St. Tim’s you hope to see.

What we hear at the forum will become part of our communal discernment about what St. Tim’s is called to be and do in the years ahead. We are exploring whether a capital campaign might help prepare this parish for joy and vitality over the next fifteen to twenty years — strengthening our campus, deepening our ministry, and equipping us to serve our neighbors for generations to come. Your voice in this conversation matters. The dreams you bring to this forum will help shape what we discern together.

How the Forum Works

When you arrive, you will find seven themed conversation stations set up. Each station is hosted by a member of our community and focused on one dimension of parish life.

You will choose two stations to visit during the forum. At each station, you will join a small group conversation guided by a few simple prompt questions. There is no presentation — just conversation. After ten minutes, a brief break gives you a chance to move to a second station of your choice.

At the close, a representative from each station will share the most vivid ideas with the whole group. You will also have the chance to write down your own dream on a comment card — and to submit ideas after the forum if more come to you on the drive home.

The station you choose to visit tells us something. Self-selection is part of how we hear what matters most to this community — so go where your heart takes you.

The Seven Dream Stations

Read through the stations below before you arrive. Come with a thought, a wish, or even just a question. No homework will be collected; the only thing you need to bring is your dreams for St. Timothy’s.

Table 1  The Welcome We Extend First impressions shape everything. This station invites you to imagine St. Timothy’s through the eyes of someone who has never been here before. What does it feel like to walk through our doors for the first time? What would make a visitor feel truly seen and genuinely welcomed — not just greeted? What would it take for that person to come back?
Table 2  Gathering Around the Table The table is one of the most sacred spaces in the life of a community. This station explores what it would mean for St. Timothy’s to share meals in a deeper, more intentional way — not just coffee hour, but the kind of gathering around food that builds lasting bonds. What would that look like? What would it make possible?
Table 3  Families & Children What would it take for a young family to put down roots at St. Timothy’s and stay for a generation? This station is for dreaming about how this parish nurtures children, welcomes parents, and creates a place where families feel that the church is truly for them — at every season of their lives.
Table 4  A Campus That Works for Everyone Our buildings and grounds are the physical home of this community. This station asks: what would these spaces need to look like for St. Timothy’s to do everything it is called to do? Dream about accessibility, beauty, function, and the ways our campus could better serve our worship, our programs, and our neighbors.
Table 5  Serving Our Neighbors St. Timothy’s sits in the heart of Mountain View. This station invites you to dream about what it would look like for this parish to be a more visible, more active blessing to the community around us — to the people who live nearby but may never walk through our doors. We are also exploring whether a capital campaign might include a tithe — setting aside ten percent of proceeds for the needs of our neighbors. What would you want that gift to do? What needs do we see? What gifts do we have to offer?
Table 6  Faith Formation What would it mean for every member of St. Timothy’s — regardless of age or stage of life — to have a clear, meaningful path to go deeper in their faith? This station explores how we teach, how we learn, and how we grow together as disciples. What would you want for yourself? What would you want for others?
Table 7  Caring for Creation Faith has always called us to tend the world we have been given. This station asks what faithful, imaginative stewardship of creation looks like for our particular community — in our worship, on our campus, and in how we engage the wider world. What would it look like for St. Timothy’s to take this calling seriously and joyfully?
